Agro Process Facility
Project Overview
This project will involve the construction and equipping of an agro-processing facility in Saint Lucia. The facility will include:
A product development laboratory
A training center
These components will be used to support and empower forty women, girls, and LGBTQI community members who are victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
Objectives
The primary goals of the project are to:
- Create sustainable livelihoods for survivors of gender-based violence
- Increase economic and emotional resilience among participants
- Utilize Saint Lucia’s abundant fruits and vegetables to develop and market organic food products with extended shelf life
Employment and Economic Impact
- The facility will provide full-time employment for 40 women, girls, and LGBTQI community members.
- An additional 20 participants have been awarded micro-grants to start their own small businesses in areas such as:
- Farming
- Agro-processing
- Other income-generating activities
- Farming
These micro-businesses will supply raw materials to the Agro-processing facility and enhance household livelihoods across the beneficiary communities.
